This project recognises that a new segment of the populations are enduring poverty and traditional support measures are inappropriate. Educated, home owning, people are now needing emergency support. The project seeks to learn from the experiences of the participating partners how new actions are alleviating this new poverty.
This December we'll be working with as many people as possible to help them feel less lonely in time for Christmas. But we urgently need more befrienders to achieve this!
So we've been spending time with 3 befriendees in Bournemouth and some befrienders in Poole to talk about what they do.
Today, we'd like to introduce you to 'Roger'. Roger lives with his wife in Bournemouth but they have a strained relationship and she works. Roger had a stroke and now cannot consistently leave the house so we partnered him with a befriender from a local church. Here's what Roger had to say.....
